iamar browser linux's release note
The iamar browser was designed to enhance The Department of Game Production in providing a development platform (SDK). The SDK is a comprehensive development platform including the iserver, documentation, the 3d academy itself, and a lot of examples. Mostly due to the art work, the package became balky, and takes much longer to download.
But often people may only want the browser without its accessories. If you just want your friends to check out your work, it does not make sense for them to download everything. They will only need the browser. In response to this, we decided to create another package trimming down everything except the browser. The smaller package, obvious the trimmed version. It still retains all of its browser capability, but it is missing the example code as well as the 3d academy. Some of the SDK features such as download video and enter academy buttons are disabled. As a rule, if you only want to browse other people's site, you should download the smaller version. But if you are looking to develop your own site, you should download the full scale SDK.
All the sites you visit are created using the SDK version. The ability to create them is taught by academy. If after seeing the capabilities of this browser, you become interested in developing your own site; you would uninstall the ibrowser version and change it to the sdk version.

Iamar was originally programmed on gnome/archlinux, and later on migrated to
windows. However, due to the constant changing of dynamic link libraries,
there is much more problem making sure that iamar works on all systems. To
mitigate this problem, we try to include as much library with the package
as possible. However, due to the size of Iamar, this is often not practical.
To make the situation even more complicated, iamar is also designed very much
interrelated with the desktop environment. Unfortunate, due to the wide
selection of Desktop environments in linux, we are unable to support every type
at this moment. At this moment, we will support the two biggest environment;
gnome and KDE.
I have decided in the end to write my own installer. The purpose of this
installer is to distinguish the desktop environment and install itself
accordingly. The installer is written in python, so I welcome people to help
me with the script regarding to unsupported distributions.
To install iamar, you have to untar the program with:
tar -xvvf iamar.tar.gz
Then you need to mv the untared directory to the location you want to
save the program. When this is done, you need to become root and then
run the installer. The installer should let you know if the installation
was successful.
When you are ready to uninstall the program, you need to become root and
then run the uninstaller.
After the installation, all consecutive files created with the "sem" extension will be
recognized as iamar code. When you double click on it, it will automatically
execute it.
Since iamar is still at its alpha version, so the installer will not always
work for every platform. Please feel free to share your knowledge with us at the forum http://forums.iamaracademy.com/
